These projects, selected in Spain, correspond to the implementation of the UIC track in the stretch between Castellbisbal and Villaseca, the SESAR project for the operational implementation of the communications system under the VoIP protocol and the motorway of the sea between Barcelona and Civitavecchia.
The European Commission has notified the list of projects initially approved to the European Parliament and to all the Member States. These subsidies will be definitively approved at the CEF Committee meeting to be held on 12 December in Brussels.
In the three previous rounds of proposals for CEF funding, the European Commission granted a total of 981 million euros for investments in Spain of a total sum of 5.47 billion euros approved for the whole of the EU.
The Spanish proposal in this round included a total of seven projects that represent a total investment in Spain of some 555 million euros, of which subsidies amounting to 31% of this sum were applied for.
"Connecting Europe" Facility
On 20 January, the DOUE published the joint round of proposals of the "Connecting Europe" Facility (CEF) to develop the Trans-European Transport Network.
This call for proposals, corresponding to the period 2014-2020, has a provision of more than 1 billion euros for all the countries in the EU.
These subsidies for projects presented to the "Connecting Europe" Facility are granted on a competitive basis from among the different applications made by institutions or companies established in any country in the EU, on an individual or JV basis, as well as by international organisations related to the infrastructure and transport sector.
All of the applications have received the express authorisation of the respective government of the EU Member State in which the applicant operates. In Spain, this authorisation comes from the Ministry of Public Works.
