The Minister for Education, Culture and Sport and Government Spokesperson, Íñigo Méndez de Vigo; the Minister for the Treasury and Public Administration Services, Cristóbal Montoro, together with senior officials and other staff from the Presidency of the Government and the Ministry of the Presidency and Regional Administrations, held a minute's silence as a sign of mourning following the attacks carried out in Las Ramblas in Barcelona and in Cambrils (Tarragona).

At the same moment, 12 midday, the President of the Government and the Vice-President of the Government also held a minute's silence in Plaza de Catalunya, in Barcelona, in an expression of mourning, which was also attended by King Felipe VI, the Minister for Home Affairs, the Minister for Health, Social Services and Equality, the President of the Regional Government of Catalonia, the vice-president and councillors of his regional government, the Speaker of the Regional Parliament, the Mayor of Barcelona, leaders of the main political parties and many citizens and local inhabitants of the city of Barcelona.
