Fight against terrorism
Guardia Civil arrest three individuals in Galicia who headed up a network glorifying and justifying the terrorist organisation Resistencia Galega
News - 2017.6.21
The three detainees held senior positions within the organisation CEIVAR, from where they organised propaganda and actions to glorify the terrorist group Resistencia Galega and its members.
The Guardia Civil also searched three properties in the towns of A Graña Vilaboa (Pontevedra), Santiago de Compostela (A Coruña) and Villamarín (Ourense), and seized various documents and IT material to be studied.
The investigations were initiated as a result of various arrests made by the Guardia Civil in October 2015, within the framework of 'Operation JARO', which ended up with nine individuals being arrested for membership of a terrorist group and for glorifying terrorism. 'Operation JARO II' is a continuation of this first action.
The analysis of the documentation seized clearly shows the existence of an organised network to support Resistencia Galega, the main mission of which was the glorification and justification of the activities of the terrorist group.
This operation is the result of the ongoing efforts that the Guardia Civil has been making to detect and act against terrorist groups and their support structures.
The operation, coordinated by the Public Prosecution Service of the National High Court, was carried out under the instructions of Central Investigation Court Number 6 of the National High Court.
The investigations are ongoing and further action is not ruled out.
