State Secretary for Foreign Affairs defends women's rights before UN Human Rights Council

In his speech, the State Secretary for Foreign Affairs associated the empowerment of women and the full exercise of their rights, among others, the right to healthcare and education, with achieving genuine sustainable development.
He also insisted on the need to eradicate gender-based violence, a barrier to the effective exercise of the rights and liberties of women.
During his stay in Geneva, the State Secretary for Foreign Affairs was received by the Assistant High Commissioner of the United Nations for Human Rights, Kate Gilmore.
He also took part in a meeting organised by the Spanish Embassy in Geneva with Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS), with the aim of supporting and disseminating the work of the trust fund for the participation of these countries in the work of the Human Rights Council.
The State secretary took the opportunity of his stay in Geneva to promote Spain's candidature to the Human Rights Council for the period 2018-2020.
