Guardia Civil locate stash belonging to terrorist group ETA, with seven drums containing explosive materials in Irun (Guipuzcoa)

The locating of this stash is the result of an extensive investigation carried out by the Guardia Civil on open terrorist actions and through reviewing cases that took place years ago.

Similarly, the initial investigations show that the stash had not seen any recent activity. The investigators are looking at the possibility that this stash had been used by the terrorist group ETA to supply material to a "cell" that was operating in the area of Irun.

The location in which the stash was found was cordoned off and Guardia Civil experts in deactivating explosives accessed the spot under the instructions of the judicial authority of the National High Court.

The operation remains ongoing and the existence of other stashes in the surrounding area has not been ruled out.
