The State Secretary for the Information Society and Digital Agenda, José María Lassalle, took part in Barcelona in the presentation of the activities relating to the Mobile World Congress, together with the Mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, the Councillor for Business and Knowledge of the Regional Government of Catalonia, Jordi Baiget, the Managing Director of FIRA in Barcelona, Constantí Serrallonga, and the CEO of the Mobile World Capital Barcelona Foundation, Aleix Valls, the organisers of one of the main trade fairs in the mobile telephony sector in the world.
The State Secretariat, through Red.es and the National Institute for Cyber-security (Spanish acronym: INCIBE), will take part in various forums organised within the framework of this international congress to be held in Barcelona during the week of 27 February to 2 March.
The Spanish pavilion at the Mobile World Congress will have a surface area of 650 square metres, hosting 67 companies, 47 of them with their own stand and 20 others which will enjoy all the benefits and added value of being located in this pavilion.
One of the new features this year is that the pavilion will be complemented by another area of 150 square metres for networking and to make presentations in the central area of the congress.
In parallel to the Mobile World Congress, the trade fair for start-ups entitled 'Four Years from Now' will be held for the fourth straight year. At this event, in collaboration with the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (Spanish acronym: ICEX), the Spanish pavilion will host 30 start-ups from key technology sectors and another five start-ups engaged in cyber-security activities under the INCIBE fast-track programme.
The Government of Spain, through the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda, has contributed 8 million euros in 2016 to help boost this congress, as well as for activities to promote and develop companies and start-ups in the technology sector set in motion by the Mobile World Capital Foundation.
