Spain is currently the ninth-highest contributor to the organisation. Furthermore, it is heavily involved in its development activities, actively supporting its regional programmes, particularly with countries in Ibero-America and the Caribbean and with countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
The minister and the secretary general reviewed the development of the economy at a global level, in Europe and in Spain, and exchanged perspectives on the potential effects of 'Brexit'.
Lastly, the minister expressed out support to Secretary-General Gurría for the incorporation of Ibero-American countries into the organisation and its associated bodies, once they meet all the entry requirements, which will assist in the opening up of their economies and provide support for inclusive growth in each country.
