The meeting was attended by the State Secretaries for the European Union and for Economic Affairs, the Director of the Economic Office of the President of the Government, and representatives from the Ministries of Justice; Defence; the Treasury and Public Administration Services; Home Affairs; Public Works; Education, Culture and Sport; Employment and Social Security; Industry, Energy and Tourism; Agriculture, Food and Environmental Affairs; and Health and Consumption.

During the meeting, the key points of interest for Spain in the negotiations were identified, following the announcement by the Prime Minister, Theresa May, of the British Government's intention to invoke Article 50 of the Treaty of the European Union during the first half of 2017.

The invocation of Article 50 will signal the start of the negotiation process, both for the exit of the United Kingdom and for the definition of the framework for future relations between the United Kingdom and the European Union of 27 Member States.
