Spain takes in 61 Syrian refugees from Lebanon for resettlement on Tuesday and Wednesday

Of the 28 asylum-seekers to arrive on Wednesday, nine will be received in La Rioja, five in Alicante, five in Guipuzcoa and nine in Seville. The group comprises six men, six women and 16 children. They have all arrived from Beirut, via Istanbul, at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. This was the first flight to arrive in Spain from Istanbul following the attack on Tuesday night on Ataturk Airport.
A group of refugees is scheduled to arrive from Greece on Thursday to be resettled.
Spain has now taken in 299 refugees, of which 181 have arrived under the relocation programme, 141 from Greece and 40 from Italy, and another 118 under the resettlement programme, 57 from Turkey and 61 from Lebanon.
The Spanish System for the Reception and Integration of applicants/beneficiaries of international protection offers its beneficiaries a stay at a reception centre of the Ministry of Employment and Social Security or of an NGO (subsidised by the government) at which they are guaranteed lodging, meals, legal advice, psychological assistance, social care and advice, accompaniment to education centres, public health and social centres, language learning and basic social skills, guidance and intermediation for vocational training and job reinsertion, cultural activities and economic aid.
