2015 BIO International Convention has become an unmissable date for the biotechnology industry thanks to the success of the organisation of 'partnering' activities, which last year alone resulted in 29,000 meetings being held between 3,100 participating companies. For that reason, companies, financial institutions, technology centres, universities and other bodies from all around the world attend this event to seek potential clients, forge strategic alliances and find opportunities to develop new products.

Spanish participation comprises 48 exhibitors, mainly from the bio-regions of Andalusia (ANDALUCIA BIOREGION), Catalonia (BIOCAT) and the Basque Country (BIOBASQUE), which will have the opportunity to promote their products and make contact with companies and institutions to seek potential partners and investors from around the world.

Spain, an international biotechnology competitor

Spain has more than 12,000 researchers, 500 companies and an investment potential in the biotechnology sector that has driven the Spanish biotechnology industry to levels of growth in excess of other more developed countries. Currently placed as one of the most dynamic biotechnology markets in Europe, Spain presents itself as a benchmark of world competitiveness in the field of advanced therapies thanks to its extensive network of public and private hospitals and its 64 biobanks, as well as in the field of oncology.

The Spanish biotechnology industry offers excellent investment opportunities in such areas as healthcare biotechnology, industrial bioprocesses, marine biotechnology and healthcare technologies among others

This action by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism is designed to boost the internationalisation of the Spanish biotechnology industry and is framed within the agenda for strengthening the industrial sector which includes in its aims the support of sectors with a high technological content, such as in biotechnology.
