Paris Air Show held from 15 to 21 June
Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism to attend International Paris Air Show
News - 2015.6.12
The 51st Paris Air Show will be held from 15 to 21 June in Le Bourget. This is a benchmark event in the global aeronautics and space market to present the latest innovations and technological advancements from the sector at a professional level. It is organised by the French association of companies in the aeronautics sector - GIFAS.
The Paris Air Show is one of the most important such events in the world and the largest in Europe; last year it was attended by 140,000 professional visitors and comprised of 52,000 m2 of stand space.
Countries from all over the world are represented at the show, although European companies are particularly prominent. It is considered the best exhibition event for not only the major aircraft and satellite manufacturers but also for the components industry and ancillary services to make themselves known.
Spain will be present at the Paris Air Show this year with a total of 18 companies coordinated by the Spanish Association of Defence, Aeronautics, Security and Space Technology Companies (TEDAE), which encompasses the leading Spanish companies in civil and defence aeronautics.
The Secretary-General for Industry and SMEs, Begoña Cristeto, is due to visit the Spanish companies attending the show as part of the support provided by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism and ICEX to sectors considered as strategic, including the aeronautics, space and defence sector.
The Spanish aeronautics industry, a global benchmark
Spain is the eighth-largest aeronautics powerhouse in the world and the fifth in Europe. It is also one of the few countries in the world capable of designing, producing and certifying an entire aircraft, with highly positive growth in recent years. The Spanish industry is present in all segments of the sector and is particularly known for its specialisation in aeronautical structures, compound materials and military transport aircraft. The demand for aircraft over the coming years - with constant growth in air traffic - is leading to the best future outlook the sector has ever seen.
This action by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, aimed at boosting the Spanish aeronautical industry, comes within the framework of the Plan to Internationalise Industrial Sectors launched by the Secretariat-General for Industry and Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises and implemented through ICEX. The plan forms part of the agenda to strengthen the industrial sector, the objectives of which include boosting strategic sectors, such as the aeronautics, space and defence sector, with a strong knock-on effect on the economy and considerable technology content.
