Contributory pensions for April amount to 8.22 billion euros

The monthly total of contributory pensions paid out by the Spanish Social Security system amounted to 8.22 billion euros at 1 May 2015. Year-on-year growth in this figure now stands at 3%.
The average retirement pension stood at 1,019.70 euros, 2.1% higher than in the same period last year. The average pension from the Spanish Social Security system as a whole, which includes all the various types of pension available (retirement, permanent disability, widowhood, orphanhood, and those paid out to relatives), stood at 885.66 euros per month. This represents a year-on-year increase of 1.8%.
The public system comprises 9,278,782 pensions in total, an increase of 1.1% on last year. More than half of these - 5,622,254 - are retirement pensions, while 2,349,543 are widowhood pensions, 929,663 are permanent disability pensions, 338,439 are orphanhood pensions and 38,883 are pensions paid out to relatives.
