Contributory pensions for April amount to 8.2 billion euros

The average retirement pension stood at 1,017.40 euros, 2.1% higher than in the same period last year. The average pension from the Spanish Social Security system as a whole, which includes all the various types of pension available (retirement, permanent disability, widowhood, orphanhood, and those paid out to relatives), stood at 883.89 euros per month. This represents a year-on-year increase of 1.8%.

The public system comprises 9,279,340 pensions in total, an increase of 1.2% on last year. More than half of these, 5,621,074, are retirement pensions, while 2,351,164 are widowhood pensions, 929,549 are permanent disability pensions, 338,758 are orphanhood pensions and 38,795 are pensions paid out to relatives.
