​Official acts in memory of victims of Germanwings flight

Minister for Home Affairs to represent Spain at official acts in memory of victims of plane accident in Alps to be held on Friday in Cologne (Germany)

The main act will be held at Cologne Cathedral (Germany). It will be comprised of an initial ecumenical ceremony, officiated by the Archbishop of Cologne, Cardinal Rainer María Woelki, and by the Head of the Lutheran Church in Westphalia, Annette Kurschus. This will be followed by an official funeral service involving participation from the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Joachim Gauck, the President of the Bundesrat, Hannelore Kraft, the Spanish Minister for Home Affairs, Jorge Fernández Díaz and the Secretary of State for Transport of the French Republic, Alain Vidalies.

Following this event, the Maternushaus (Conference Centre of the Archbishopric of Cologne, which is close to the cathedral) will host a gathering of family and friends of the victims of the plane accident.

Jorge Fernández Díaz will be accompanied at these official acts by the Spanish Ambassador to Germany, Pablo García-Berdoy; the Spanish Consul General in Düsseldorf, Francisco de Asís Aguilera; the Under-secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Luis Aguilera; the Under-secretary of the Ministry of Public Works, Mario Garcés, and the Director General of Civil Protection and Emergencies, Juan Díaz Cruz.
