For this reason, specialised professionals from the National Social Security Institute are joining the support and care offices for families of the victims in both Madrid and Barcelona.
Furthermore, a commitment was made to establish mechanisms of the utmost speed to swiftly recognise and issue any benefits to which the families of victims may be entitled (widowhood, orphanhood, family benefits, compensation for workplace accidents, etc.) with a view to facilitating the procedure, speeding up paperwork and providing appropriate advice to the families on their entitlement to Social Security benefits.
Tax support
Furthermore, in order to ensure the information and assistance service to families of the victims is provided adequately, the regional tax offices in Catalonia and Madrid will take all the necessary steps in a centralised manner, both regarding the 2014 and 2015 tax returns and regarding the taxation of any possible compensation that may be received as a result of these events.
Specifically, information will be provided on:
- The tax regime governing the compensation that may be received
- Specific questions about the 2014 Personal Income Tax Return and for 2015
- Filling in Personal Income Tax returns for 2014 during the current tax return process
- Filling in Personal Income Tax returns for 2015 next year
- Any tax-related question or query that may arise

The cabinet also reported that three Spanish coroners are travelling to France today in order to assist and collaborate on the process being carried out in France as a result of the accident.
Furthermore, tomorrow a meeting will be held by the State Committee on Support for Victims and Families of Victims of the Plane Crash.
