At this meeting, the two ministers decided to hold a bilateral meeting in Madrid in November to assess the Three-year Spain-France Action Plan to Fight Drug Trafficking, signed on 10 October 2012 on the occasion of the Spain-France Summit held in Paris, which reflects the firm intention of the two ministerial departments to step up bilateral cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking at the same level as collaboration on the fight against terrorism.
Jorge Fernández Díaz and Bernard Cazeneuve considered the results of this plan to be highly satisfactory, and that it has significantly contributed to reducing the trafficking of hashish and cocaine destined for Spain and France, as shown by the major hauls of drugs and other assets seized in recent years.
Following the bilateral meeting, the Ministers for Home Affairs of Spain and France, on behalf of their governments, attended the ceremony, at the head of their respective delegations, to canonise the Blessed María de la Purísima de la Cruz, on the part of Spain, and the parents of the Blessed St. Theresa of Lisieux, on the part of France, presided over by Pope Francis in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican City.
